Vandenbusche Van Tour: The North Country, Gold, Coal, Silver, and Flowers

July 12 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm

$70.00 – $80.00

Join us for this series of tours around Crested Butte and the Gunnison Valley featuring historian Duane Vandenbusche.  This tour will be centered around the history of The North Country: Gold, Coal, Silver, and Flowers.  Topics will include Anthracite (Smith Hill/Coal City), Oh Be Joyful Campground – early mining town, how it got its name, Poverty Gulch, Washington Gulch, Gothic, Schofield Pass – Town of Schofield, 401, West Maroon Pass, and flowers of the valley.

We meet at the Crested Butte Museum at 8am for a light breakfast (rolls, fruit, coffee).  Duane will go over his topics for the day and we will head out in the van to make stops along the way.  Van transportation will be included with this tour, however, you are welcome to transport yourself if you choose to do so.  A sack-lunch will also be provided with the tour: sandwich, chips or another side, and a drink.  Please let us know if you have any special dietary requirements so we can accommodate your breakfast and lunch.  The tour will end around 3pm.
