Melting Pot Cookoff: Second Annual
May 16 @ 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Join us for the second annual Melting Pot Cookoff, a food competition celebrating our community through history, cuisine, and culture for preservation month, co-presented by the Town of Crested Butte and generously sponsored by LIV Sotheby’s. Local chefs and food enthusiasts alike will be recreating recipes from the Crested Butte Melting Pot Cookbook, putting their own creative spin on their chosen recipe to battle for the top spots in either the savory or sweet category. Taste the creations of 10 – 15 local vendors, vote for your favorite, and celebrate Crested Butte’s culinary culture while you eat and enjoy libations at our cash bar. The Melting Pot Cookbook was written by Myrtle M. and Michele Veltri out of an interest in culinary diversity and celebrating the various cultures and ethnicities brought to Crested Butte. We invite you to this community event to honor the families that contributed to our town’s uniqueness and vibrancy, and to celebrate culinary history and creativity to bond our community through food. Tickets include a sample of each of the vendors’ creations, a miniature booklet with original recipes and how each participant modified them, and non-alcoholic beverages. We will have beer, wine, and a featured cocktail for sale at our bar, and will be accepting cash and credit card to purchase alcoholic beverages. We will also have The Melting Pot Cookbooks for sale at this event. ***New this year: We are asking our attendees to provide your own plate, bowl, fork, knife, spoon, and cup, to keep this event as sustainable as possible. Alternatively, you can choose to reserve a dinnerware rental for the event. Please note that if you do not purchase this optional rental, you agree to provide your own dinnerware setup, or to pay the rental fee the day of the event in the case that you forget or do not bring your setup. Thank you for your cooperation in supporting as sustainable as a community event as possible and helping us generate minimal waste*** Proceeds generated from this event will directly fund updates to our space which will enable us to host more community events like this in the future.
