Live Music in the Garden: Billy Jeter

We invite you to our FREE live music series in our garden area adjacent to the museum, on Tuesdays from 5pm-7pm, July 11th – August 15th. We will have libations and non-alcoholic refreshments for sale, and any donations will directly benefit our local musicians and our non-profit history museum.
Billy Jeter’s music comes from a collage of influences, Mississippi Delta blues, Rock n Roll, Ozark folk, Colorado bluegrass and a bit of Grateful Dead campfire type songs mixed in. Born in the Mississippi Delta in Arkansas 1955, Jeter was exposed to an intricate tapestry of music styles, rich in history and colorful characters. The late sixties and early seventies were an exciting time for a young music listener — from the great songwriting of Robbie Robertson, Neil Young to Jerry Garcia. Growing up during this seminal time in America’s music history helped Jeter forge a musical base that started broad and continues to grow. Although admittedly late to songwriting, the regional cast of characters always provided a fertile ground for story telling. With his talent as a distinguished storyteller and a life long love of music, Billy Jeter’s evolution into a talented singer, songwriter and musician was a natural progression. Once he began writing, the songs started to flow like the Mississippi River during the rainy season To date he has released four full length albums: Minstrels, Misfits & Melodies (2016), Song Dog Blues (2018), House on Fire (2019).and Shine Eye Landing (2021). His fifth, and most personal, album Hysteria will be released on March 24, 2023. “Hysteria is a reflection of what I know, grew up with and am most comfortable with…so it was easy to do” says Jeter. “I have always strived — often fighting against myself — to write diverse music. My music comes from a montage of genres: Mississippi Delta blues and rock, Ozark folk, Colorado bluegrass and a touch of Grateful Dead campfire type songs.” The strength of his stories, colorful characters and references to real events, establish Billy Jeter as master storyteller, historian and songwriter who uses music as the canvas for his artistry. These days Jeter divides his time between the Colorado Mountains and the Arkansas Delta…and has even inadvertently picked up some red dirt influences in between the two.
